Drinking enough water a day is very important – especially for men over 40 (mainly because the cartilage which tends to wear away).
I don’t want to write too much about this because you can find plenty of articles why it is important to get well hydrated.
Make sure the water you drink is filtered (for example with RO system) and not straight from the tap. Tap water can contain chlorine, fluoride, chemicals and drugs. You can also drink bottled spring water.
It is good if the water you drink contains electrolytes. Bottled spring water already has electrolytes but filtered water doesn’t. In this case you can add some lemon juice to it.
Sports drinks do contain electrolytes but they also contain quite a high amount of sugar.I personally don’t drink sports drinks because of the sugar.
A few important benefits of drinking:

Cartilage contains about 80 percent water dehydration can reduce the joints’ shock-absorbing ability, so water lubricates the joints
It regulates the body temperature
The bowel needs water to work properly.
It boosts your performance
I usually drink green tea without sugar and water. I prepare a big amount of green tea for the day and when it runs out then I drink water 🙂 .
If you don’t drink enough you can get low blood pressure and kidney stones. Wherever you go, always bring a bottle of water with you so when you are thirsty you don’t need to wait.
People tend to think they drink a lot of water, because they don’t measure it.
I asked many friends, how much they drink a day. “A lot” was the answer. Then I asked them, to measure it for a day. To their biggest astonishment they actually drank less than half of the amount they though they did!
The best way to measure it is to drink from the same glass, or bottle which has an easily calculated amount. My mug contains half a liter water (about 16.9 ounces). Each time I finish drinking it, I draw a vertical line one a piece of paper or in the Nebo application on my iPad.
Six lines means 3 liters, it is easy to count it. This way I can see in time that “hey, I’m a little behind today”, I need to drink some more.
If you pinch the skin on your hand and if it doesn’t come back immediately you are dehydrated.
You should know though that drinking too much water is also not healthy (it is called water intoxication) so while taking care to drink enough, don’t overdo it!
