Staggering Statistics
Are you aware of the staggering statistics surrounding falls among older adults?
Did you know that once somebody hits the age of sixty-five, the mortality rate from hip or femur fractures is alarming?
Studies indicate that up to one-third of individuals over sixty-five who fracture their hip are sadly no longer with us within a year.
Falls are, by far, the leading cause of accidental deaths in those aged sixty-five and older.
According to the CDC, eight hundred thousand older people are hospitalized for falls each year.

Personal Shocking Story
Let me share a personal story that made me realize the importance of proper falling techniques.
I still remember vividly, I was a 7-year-old-kid when I went to my first judo competition. A young boy at my age also participated, and his trainer let him, although he hadn’t mastered the proper falling technique. When he fell, he put out his arm before himself and his bones broke in such a fashion that his forearm bone slid upwards and was bulging under his upper arm. He was howling in agony.
Unfortunately, his arm never healed completely. Now, imagine the impact of a fall on a sixty-year-old individual.
How to prevent it?
There’s hope. I’m here to teach you step by step how to fall properly, even as an older adult. I’m Zsolt Csillag, black belted Judo master, and I have over 30 years of experience in martial arts and injury prevention.
Counter example
Let me share a counter-example from my own life. At the age of 52, I had a cycling accident. I was cycling along the road at quite a high speed when an inattentive driver of a stationary car opened the car door just as I was passing. I fell off the bike, skidded, and rolled about 3 meters.
Despite the impact, I walked away with minor skin chafing on my forearm.
I should mention that I wasn’t wearing a cycling helmet, and I had on shorts and a sleeveless shirt, leaving me without any protection. I acted without thinking, which is why I don’t recall the specific details.
It’s remarkable to imagine the difference that proper falling techniques can make in situations like these.
